Election 2016: According to a poll, Donald Trump’s unfavorability percentage has gone up. Donald Trump is now at 70% unfavourable which is the highest since he announced his campaign. In a survey conducted by Washington Post / ABC News 7/10 Americans have something unpleasant to say about Trump.
Economy: Federal Reserve has decided not to raise interest rates after poor jobs report in May. Chairwoman Janet Yellen said, “Proceeding cautiously and raising our interest-rate target will allow us to verify that economic growth will return to a moderate pace, that the labor market will strengthen further, and that inflation will continue to make progress toward our 2% objective.”
House of Reps: House committee advances mental health bill after a long delay. The bill was first introduced following the mass shooting in Newtown, Conn by Tim Murphy (R-PA). This bill will create “new assistant secretary role in the HHS to oversee mental health and substance abuse programs… also includes measures such as grants for innovative programs that are intended to make initiatives more effective.”- The Hill
U.S.: The Department of Education is taking steps to close down the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, the is the biggest accreditor of for-profit colleges across the country. ACICS accredits schools to receive federal student grants and loans. An official stated, “some schools provide extremely poor outcomes for students or even commit fraud but nevertheless still maintain accreditation.”
World: An official from Jalisco, Mexico was fired from working for the Development and Social Integration Secretariat due to a comment he made. The official stated in a Facebook post “Too bad there were 50 and not 100” regarding the shooting in Orlando.
