POTUS: President Obama will speak tonight at the DNC in Philly alongside VP Joe Biden. Obama in an interview with Savannah Guthrie of the Today’s Show said, “anything is possible” in November… “It is the nature of democracy that until those voters are cast the American people have their say.”
Election 2016: GOP nominee Donald J. Trump today said he hope Russia had hacked Hillary Clinton, in the hope of finding Clinton’s 30,000 emails that went missing from her private server while Secretary of State. “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing.”
Economy: The Federal Reserve has met today and decided not to raise interest rates, the Fed will meet this upcoming September again. In addition, Apple says it has sold its billionth iPhone.
U.S.: John W. Hinckley Jr., the man who attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan in 1981 will be released from a psychiatric hospital. Hinckley who has spent more than 35 years in prison will be released to his mother next week under a federal court order.
World: Turkey government has reportedly shut down several media outlets following the coup attempt. According to sources up to 1,700 military officers have been discharged, shut down 45 newspapers and 16 television stations. Yet more than 15,000 people have been detained since the failed military coup, the government has issued 47 warrants for several newspaper staff members.
Science/Tech/Health: In a new study of middle-aged men, the study finds that poor physical fitness tends to be a high risk for premature death and can be as bad as smoking. The study was conducted by the University of Gothenburg in Sweden.
